Overview

During the early chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical professionals were faced with a fast-evolving, unknown virus and struggled to find reliable information and resources. Recognizing the urgent need for a unified platform for knowledge exchange, a leading IT corporation enlisted our services to develop an integrated tool. This tool aimed to assist doctors in comprehensively studying the disease, providing features such as an easily searchable repository, one-on-one discussion panels, and real-time information sharing with physicians worldwide.

Challenges

  • Information Void: The nascent stage of the pandemic led to numerous gaps in knowledge about the disease, its effects, and potential treatment strategies.
  • Misinformation: Unregulated public forums were rife with misinformation and incomplete expertise, making it difficult for doctors to find secure, reliable sources.
  • Data Security: The requirement for a secure Peer-to-Peer (P2P) platform for doctors to exchange knowledge necessitated stringent data security measures.
  • Reliable Repository: Doctors needed a dependable medical data repository collated from various trustworthy sources.
  • Discussion Efficiency: Existing open forums were inefficient for medical personnel to discover and discuss specific medical issues, with lengthy searches required to find relevant individuals and topics.

High Level Design Architecture

Solutions

  • Tailored Platform: We built a website and Progressive Web App (PWA) from the ground up using Strapi Headless CMS, with a user experience crafted with direct input from doctors. This platform offered doctors a specialized, secure environment to engage with peers.
  • Easy-to-Search Repository: We integrated a repository of COVID-19-related information compiled from a few reliable and trusted sources known within the medical community.
  • One-On-One Discussion Forum: A forum was created for verified doctors to engage in direct discussions, facilitating the sharing of insights and experiences.
  • Real-Time Information Sharing: We developed a system for disseminating real-time information to medical professionals worldwide, ensuring the information network remained current.

Result

The platform became an invaluable resource during the COVID-19 pandemic, used by over 25,000 doctors. In the first six months alone, more than 1500 articles, videos, and podcasts were uploaded, generating discussions among the doctors that resulted in over 10,000 engaging comments.
